I work for FileMaker,
they make FileMaker Pro, FileMaker Unlimited, and FileMaker
Server. I work on the data-access layer underlying all of
the (future) products. FileMaker is a subsidiary of Apple
Computer.
Previously I
worked briefly for SecureSoft, a startup in silicon
valley doing some security-related software. My work there was
to design and implement a deductive database, basically a
simplified (and therefore more efficient) version of Coral.
Before that, I
worked for Informix on their XPS query optimizer. I
worked on an algorithm to efficiently divide the system's
available memory between the various iterator nodes in a query.
Before that, I
attended UW-Madison, where I obtained my Master's degree
in Computer Science while working full-time as a research
assistant in the database group.
